KABUL (Pajhwok): Hundreds of Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) supporters on Friday staged a protest rally in Kabul.
A Pajhwok reporter said the HIA supporters gathered in Darulaman area and were on their way to Dehmazang at around 10am.
He added HIA supreme leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar arrived shortly after the protest began and joined the protesters.
The protesters chanted “Our goal is peace, our voice is peace” and “Death to the murderers of the nation, death to the traitorous rulers and death to the enemies of the ulema.”
Hekmatyar on Thursday announced a large-scale protest by his party’s supporters in Kabul.
He insisted that if their demands were not met, they would continue their protests in Kabul and the provinces. “Those who have the courage to fight a long war can hold a series of protests.”
Hekmatyar vowed to continue their protests until l the current painful situation war, insecurity, targeted assassinations and the current bloody crisis came to an end.
“The government lied to me and deceived me. We were very encouraged. Today we are forced to show if there is an alternative way to get the country out of this situation,” he said.
He asked the government to abandon the path of treason and fully implement the agreement reached with Hezb-i-Islami and release all its prisoners.
