KABUL (Pajhwok): Renowned Politician of Lower Pakhtonkhwa Ghulam Ahmad Bilour said ongoing fighting in Afghanistan was being waged for power not for Islam.

He expressed his view during a conference on ‘Peace and Security’ in Kabul.

Leaders from both sides of the Durand Line have held the two days conference and exchanged their views on how to bring security and peace to the region. Conference issued a joint resolution at the end.

Borders and Tribal Affairs Minister Mohibullah Samim said fight underway from the past four decades has destroyed all institutions and claimed huge sacrifices from the people. This fighting had expanded to Lower Pakhtonkhwa as well.

“In conflict, our mosques, universities, cemeteries and honor is insecure. This is not our fight and it has no link to our religion and culture,” he said.

Samim said some circles found their relief and peace in the killing of Afghans, but the youth of Afghans were ready to uphold their dignity and identity.

Haji Din Mohammad, member of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) said that leaders of Pakhtonkhwa held different views on Durand Line and other issues but stressed that peace and stability should be ensured which is lost on both sides.

He believed that peace could happen when both sides want it and due to insecurity people from both sides suffered.

Renowned Politician from Lower Pakhtonkhwa said that Pakhton living in every corner of the world is Afghan.

He said the fighting currently underway is not for Islam but for power.
