KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA) says the Russian government has grounded an Afghan Ariana Airlines plane for failing to pay taxes on time.
A credible source in ACAA told Pajhwok Afghan News a plane landing at any airport had to pay taxes on time in compliance with international aviation rules.
Based on international rules, the official said, no country reserved the right to intercept a plane. Instead the country should share the issue with the relevant company/airline.
The plane had no technical issues and efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were underway to address the issue through diplomatic channels, the source said.
With the Ariana Afghan Airline yet to comment on the issue, the ACAA is said to have sent the government of Russia regarding the problem.
