CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): A three-day Nawroz sport festival kicked off in the Jabalus Saraj district of central Parwan province on Monday.
Eighteen teams involving 400 sportsmen are taking part in the festival, whose theme is support for the republic system, security forces and durable peace in the country.
Mohammad Zubail Sakhizada, chief organiser of the even, said that 18 teams were competing in weightlifting, power lifting, kick-box, boxing, free fight, wrestling and other sports.
He added at least 2,000 spectators would support the players.
Wrestler Baes Sakhizada said they were supporting the security forces and to the establishment of peace in the country by exhibiting their wrestling skills.
Omaid Reza, a power-lifting team member, said youth would be encouraged to play sports and stop consuming drugs.
