8-year-old girl raped in Kabul, suspect detained

KABUL (Pajhwok): An eight-year-old girl has been sexually abused in the Kart-i-Sakhi neighbourhood of Kabul, an official said on Tuesday.

Police spokesman Firdos Faramarz said: “It is claimed that an 8-year-old girl was raped by Zikrullah, son of Abdul Ahad, who introduces himself as a gatekeeper.”

He said the suspect had been arrested and his case would be referred to judicial organs on the completion of his preliminary interrogation.

The victim’s family said the incident took place in Kart-ithe -Sakhi area of 3^rd police district on Monday. The minor girl is currently under medical treatment at Istiqlal Hospital.

Faramarz said the girl’s condition was unstable and she would be sent for a forensic test after her condition improved to further determine the incident.

Dr. Hododullah Noori, director of Istiqlal Hospital, confirmed the girl had been raped. He said the girl was currently under treatment at the maternity ward.
