Iran trying to help end hostilities in Afghanistan: Zarif

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Iranian foreign minister says his country is trying to help establish durable peace and end hostilities in Afghanistan.

Mehr News Agency reported Mohammad Javad Zarif, currently visiting Dushanbe, said Iran and regional countries could help their Afghan brothers and sisters put an end to fighting.

The foreign minister made the remarks on arrival in Dushanbe, where he is to attend a ministerial meeting of the Heart of Asia -- Istanbul Process -- initiative and meet senior Tajik official.

“I hope this trip will play a key role in boosting and expanding mutual cooperation between (Tajikistan and Iran) on all fronts,” Zarif remarked.

Besides addressing the two-day conference and meeting Tajik officials, he will also hold talks with his counterparts from Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Azerbaijan.
