Minister vows facilities for Kandahar industrial parks

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): The minister of commerce and industry has promised to address problems of industrialists and traders in southern Kandahar province and facilitate investment in industrial parks.

Nisar Ahmad Ghoriani made the remarks during a meeting with industrialists, traders and governor.

Wolesi Jirga members Muqtada Miran and Gul Ahmad Kamin accompanied the minister on his trip to Kandahar on Tuesday evening.

The industrialists, traders and the governor shared the problems in the field of industry and trade with the ministry.

Nasrullah Zaheer, on behalf of traders and industrialists, said the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) should fulfill its responsibility to develop and provide services to the southern and northern industrial parks in Kandahar.

Stakeholders in the industrial parks were facing many problems, the minister acknowledged, stressing the provision of the necessary services for them.

He stressed the need to support and strengthen the private sector, saying it would boost the country’s economy and reduce unemployment.

Governor Roohullah Khanzada said Kandahar was a rich province in terms of industry and trade and had a lot of opportunities for development in this area.

He also cited the existing problems in the fields of industry and commerce and called for solutions to them at the central and provincial levels.

Ghorian said the aim of his trip to Kandahar was to assess the situation of the industry and trade and to promote investment in the province.
