SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): Police in northern Sari Pul province on Sunday claimed seizing 185 kilograms of various drugs and arresting five people in connection with the seizure.
Brigadier General Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani, provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that anti-narcotics police seized 132 kilograms of heroin and 53 kilograms of methylamphetamine (ice).
He said the detained persons were responsible for storage and transfer of these materials.
He noted that two of these smugglers were residents of Badghis province and the other three were residents of Sari Pul.
The police chief said the smugglers most likely intended to smuggle the drugs through the northern provinces to Turkmenistan.
