MoF press director killed in Kandahar

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): The press director of the Ministry of Finance, Nimat Rawan, was gunned down in a targeted attack in southern Kandahar province on Thursday.

The incident took place at Shaheed Ahmad Wali Khan Road in 9th police district of Kandahar city on Thursday afternoon.

Police spokesman Jamal NasirBarakzai told Pajhwok Afghan News that militants attacked and killed Rawan, a former Tolo TV reporter and the press director of the Ministry of Finance.

He said Rawan was driving his car when attacked by gunmen who then escaped but police have launched an investigation.

NematRawan had been in Kandahar for the past few days.

He previously worked as a reporter for Tolo TV and had been working as the press director of the Ministry of Finance for the past two weeks.

The militants have not yet commented on the incident.
