Fuel, ghee prices edge up in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of fuel and ghee have increased while the value of gold decreased during the outgoing week in Kabul, market sources said on Sunday.

A worker at the Hashimi Fuel Station in the Taimani area of Kabul told Pajhwok Afghan News the price of one litre of diesel increased from 50afs to 51afs and the same quantity of petrol surged from 46afs to 50afs.

However, the gas rate remained unchanged. Mohammad Sharif, a dealer in Kalola Pushta locality said the price of one kilogram of gas stood stable at 55afs.

Ghee price moves up

Zmarai Safi, head of the Food Traders’ Union, said the price of a 16-litre tin of Malaysian ghee increased from 1,950afs to 2,000afs.

The wholesale price of a 49-kilogram bag of Kazakhstani flour stood at 1,600afs and a 24kg sack of Pakistani rice at 2,400afs.

A kilogram of the Indonesian green tea accounted for 320afs and the same amount of the African black tea for 340afs.

Hamed Sofizada, a retailer in Dahan-i-Bagh market in Kabul, said a 49kg bag of Kazakhstani flour cost 1,650afs, a 49kg sack of Indian sugar 2,400afs and a 24kg bag of Pakistani rice 2,450afs, 16 liters of Malaysian cooking oil cost 2,020afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea cost 350afs and same quantity of African black tea cost 350afs.

Gold down by over 2.1pc

Mohammad Javid, a jeweler in Lycee Mariam neighbourhood, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold decreased to 3,700afs from 3,750 afs, and the same quantity of the Russian variety to 3,050afs from 3,150afs.

Haji Hussain, owner of the Sadaqat Money Exchange Service, said one US dollar accounted for 78.30afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 495afs, compared to last week’s 77.10afs and 494afs respectively.
