KABUL (Pajhwok): The Counter-Narcotics Justice Center (CNJC) says 26 persons have been sentenced from five to 20 years in jail in connection with 22 criminal cases.
Khalid Moahid, a spokesman for CNJC, told Pajhwok Afghan News that among the convicts, seven were sentenced up to 20 years in prison in connection with seven cases by the appellant court.
Another 19 persons had been sentenced to various jail terms in connection with 15 cases. The intelligence organs had seized various types of narcotics from the convicts.
He added the CNJC, intelligence and security agencies had arrested 16 suspects, including a woman, in connection with 11 cases of drag trafficking in the past one week.
The suspects were detained in Kabul, Laghman, Parwan, Kandahar, Takhar, Badakhshan and Nangarhar provinces and their cases were sent to Attorney General Office.
