2 women killed in Kandahar, assailants flee

KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): Two women were killed by unknown gunmen in southern Kandahar province on Monday, police said.

Police spokesman First Inspector Jamal NasirBarakzai told Pajhwok Afghan News that unidentified gunmen shot and killed a woman in the Familio area of ​​the 5th police district.

He said that the assailants shot the woman when she was disembarking from a rickshaw and then fled.

He added that the crime investigation team of the police headquarters had started its investigation into the incident and initial information showed the matter had a criminal aspect.

A doctor at the Mirwais Regional Hospital said the woman’s body had been transferred to the hospital. She was about 50 years old and received two bullets in the head.

Meanwhile, an elderly woman was shot dead in Arghandab district. A security source in the district said the woman was killed by gunmen in the SurkhChala area of Arghandab district.

According to the source, the son of the slain woman is commander of a security post in Spin Boldak district.

No group has come forward to claim responsibility for the murders.
