KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Taliban leader and their Qatar office member Anas Haqqani on Friday said some foreign countries wanted the war in Afghanistan to continue after the withdrawal of foreign troops but the Taliban had no such intention.
Addressing a gathering of tribal elders, civil society members and media representatives here, Haqqani said there was no need to shed blood at the behest of foreigners.
He said their leadership and other leaders of the group planned to form an inclusive government in Afghanistan so no one was harassed in one name or another.
He said there was improvement in the situation of the country, saying no news of war and deaths had been reported in the country these days. “You should be thankful to the God. It was our and your wish that peace returns.”
Anas Haqqani said that their current focus was on maintaining order in major cities, especially in Kabul, and saving the nation from trouble.
He added that in the past few days, a number of people had used the Taliban’s name to create chaos in Kabul and rob people.
“We are very much focused on controlling the situation so that it can return to normal.”
Haqqani said the way the Taliban were portrayed in the international community were not the same, but they had come up with a new idea and no longer wanted the country to become a battleground for foreigners.
“The Taliban are your brothers, they are the sons of your leaders, they have grown up in this country. ”
Anas Haqqani added some people thronged Kabul airport to flee the country, which was an insult to the whole country.
He said there was no need to leave the country and now it was time to bring back refugees from other countries and these people should know that they were safe here.
Haqqani added: “People should know that a person like Karzai is protected, he is safe, Dr. Abdullah is safe so what is the need for an interpreter, a pilot and a soldier to flee?”
