Baradar rejects rumors about his death, injury in audio clip

KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar on Monday in a voice message rejected rumors about his death or injury.

Since Sunday, rumors went viral on social media that Mullah Baradar has been wounded or killed in a Taliban infighting.  But Mullah Baradar’s recorded voice shows that the rumor is baseless.

Baradar says in the voice message: “Rumors are spread in the media. I was on trip recently, wherever I am at the moment, we all are fine, Alhamdulillah. The media make such propaganda and shameful lies. We are rejecting it and there is nothing and we are assuring you 100 percent that there is no such problem.”

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid also confirmed to Pajhwok that the audio clip belonged to Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.

Dr. Mohammad Naeem, a spokesman for the Taliban’s political office in Qatar, also said the speculation about Mullah BaradarAkhun’s death was untrue.
