ZARANJ (Pajhwok): The first-ever oxygen-producing factory worth 14 million afghanis has opened in southwestern Nimroz province.
Factory head Nazir Ahmad Noorzad said: “The plant is capable of producing 200 oxygen cylinders and could meet demand of patients across the province.”
He added the factory, established at a cost of 14 million afghanis, was striving to improve its capacity in the future.
He asked the government to provide suitable atmosphere for investors and ensure the security of businessmen.
Ahmad Wali, a doctor in the main provincial hospital said during the inaugural ceremony that hospitals in Nimroz previously faced oxygen shortages and brought the gas from other provinces.
“At times, patients — specially Covid-19 patients — lost their lives due to the lack of oxygen,” he added.
Wali hailed the establishment of the oxygen factory as a positive step. He hoped more of such plants supporting the health sector would be set up.
