KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan Metrological Department has predicted more heavy snow and rainfall in 32 provinces of the country and said most connectivity roads may be closed.
Met Department Head NajibullahSeraj told Pajhwok Afghan News that on January 4 and 5 there is the possibility of more heavy snow and rainfall in 32 provinces --- Kabul, Herat, Farah, Nimroz, Helmand, Kandahar, Parwan, Papesa, Panjshir, Nuristan, Kunar and Badakhshan.
“Clouds that resulted in snow and rainfall entered the country from west and southwest, they were heavy clouds and caused heavy snow and rainfall in most parts of the country,” he said.
“Most of the time this rain and snowfall of this magnitude caused flash floods in most parts of the country and resulted in the closure of highways.” He said up to 15mm rain and 50cm snow had fallen in most parts of the country so far.
“Relevant authorities should take necessary steps in this regard and the Met Department is predicting more snow and rainfall in days to come,” he added.
