AIBAK (Pajhwok): The International Organization for Migration (IOM) distributed 2.3 million afghanis in cash and winter clothes to 111 displaced families in northwestern Samangan province.
Abdul Qudus, an official of Disaster Management Department of Samangan, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the IOM provided assistance to111 families in Khorram Sarbagh and Hazrat Sultan districts and Aibak city, the provincial capital.
He said each family received 20,500 afghanis in cash and a package of winter clothes which included a blanket, a jacket, shoes, socks, gloves, hat and a shawl.
He said a total of 2.3 million afghanis were distributed to these families. Qudus thanked the IOM for its assistance to the poor in Samangan.
Zainab Gul, a 55-year-old resident of Hazrat Sultan district who was displaced from their village about six months during the war, told Pajhwok that she received 20,500 afghanis cash and a package of winter clothes distributed by the IOM.
She said the money could help her buy raw materials for her family of six and make a living in the winter.
