SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Extraction of coal from a reservoir in western Ghor province has begun, an official said on Thursday.
Ghor Administrative Affairs Director Haji RahmatullahAmani said the reservoir was situated in the Allah Yar locality of Espinsanga area.
He said the excavation of coal from this reservoir will help generate work opportunities and would alleviate poverty. He said a professional extraction of coal could contribute to economic development of the country as well.
Ghor Petroleum and Mining Director Abdul Hakim Hikmat said over 70 natural reservoirs in the province were uncapped and their excavation could provide work opportunities to local people. He also termed the excavation of Espinsang coalmine as vital for the uplift of residents of the locality.
Abdul Wahid Shaharyar, head of the contracting company for excavation of the reservoir, said the move will help bring down the rates of coal in the local market.
Ghor security officials assured full cooperation with investors and said no one will be allowed to make any disturbance.
