Electricity from Uzbekistan to Kabul cut off

KABUL (Pajhwok): Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) on Tuesday said Uzbekistan's electricity to Afghanistan has been cut off due to a technical problem but Turkmenistan's power supply to capital Kabul has been connected for the first time.

DABS said in a statement that Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan had cut off power supply due to a technical problem in the power supply network between the three countries.

The problem also cut off electricity of Uzbekistan to Afghanistan, the statement added.

The source said Uzbekistan power utility officials had reiterated that technical teams from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan were working to resolve the problem in the power supply network.

"Fortunately, the technical teams of DABS were able to connect Turkmenistan's electricity to Kabul for the first time,” the source said.
