Strict measures in place to foil drug trafficking in Khost

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): All routes connecting southeastern Khost province with the Durand Line have been closed against drug traffickers, an official said on Thursday.

Khost Security Chief MawlaviMahbob ShahQanit told reporters that all connectivity points with the Durand Line were strictly monitored.

He said the move would help bring down the drug business to zero and people linked with this business would be arrested and punished.

“All other connectivity points that connect Khost with other provinces are also being monitored strictly,” he said.

Officials showed some drugs security forces had recently seized to media persons.

Khost Counter-Narcotics Head Mawlavi Mir Sadiq Khan said the drug substance had been recovered by security forces during search operations in different areas.

He said besides main drug suppliers, five huge drug traffickers had been arrested during these operations.

“Over 16 kilograms of hashish, 146 kilogram heroine, 113 kilogram Shesha, 51 litres of alcohol were recovered and five drug traffickers arrested,” he said.

According to Sadiq Khan the level of crimes has declined in Khost compared with the past.

He said some alleged criminals had been arrested recently in connection to different crimes and their cases referred to judicial organs.
