In Laghman, 8 people were provided with jobs in exchange for wheat
MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): The municipality in eastern Laghman province has recruited 250 local people to clean NahrSaraj Canal against wheat instead of cash.
Haji Abdul Latif, deputy Mehtarlam mayor, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the cleaning process of the canal would take three months to complete.
Shams Rahman, one of the workers, said, "I am happy to be able to support my children and work for my country."
He added that the government should provide more similar work opportunities to jobless people.
NahrSaraj Canal is located in Chamchar area of Alingar district of Laghman which is 10 kilometers long.
