3 tonnes of expired medicines, foodstuff torched in Jawzjan

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): About three tonnes of low-quality and expired medicines and food items have been torched in northern Jawzjan province.

Qari Abdul Ghani Samim, director of public health, told Pajhwok Afghan News the items included 146 types of different medicines and 30 types of food and beverages which were out of date.

He said the public health department of Jawzjan had collected the materials from shops and malls in the province last month.

He said: “The sale of expired food and medicines or low quality is a crime and the commission tasked by the public health department will deal with those who violate the law.”

Two months ago, the public health department of Jawzjan torched about four tonnes of foodstuff and expired medicine collected from different parts of the city.
