PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The National Assembly, lower house of parliament, meets today (Monday) to elect Pakistan’s new prime minister.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi are in the run for the slot.
The two political leaders submitted their nomination papers for the new Leader of the House in National Assembly on Sunday.
Shehbaz Sharif himself submitted his nomination papers as a joint candidate of the combined opposition.
Qureshi’s papers were submitted on his behalf by his son Zain Qureshi and PTI MNAs Aamir Dogar and Malika Bukhari.
