Gunman claim life of Baghlan senior electricity official

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a senior Electricity Department official in northern Baghlan province, officials said on Friday.

Maulvi Mustafa Hashimi, director of information and culture in Baghlan province, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Abdul Rahman Baheer, deputy director (operation) of the province’s power company was killed last night in the Baghlani Markazi district.

He added the murder was said to be the outcome of a personal feud and that security forces had arrested three people.

Mohammad Idris Sherzad, a spokesman for the Baghlan police chief, also confirmed the incident, saying that at around 10pm, unknown gunmen shot and killed Baheer.

He said security forces had arrested three suspects in connection with the incident with some documents and efforts were underway to nab others involved.

Also last night, unknown gunmen killed the crime branch police chief for Baghlan in Tala wa Barfak district.
