HR report should be based on ground realities, Bennett urged

KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Foreign Minister Ameer Khan Muttaqi has asked UN Special Rapporteur Richard Bennett to prepare his report on Afghanistan based on ground realities.

Bennett arrived in Afghanistan three days ago to prepare his report on the human rights situation in the country. The top UN official had held a meeting with Foreign Minister Muttaqi.

In a series of tweets, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Abdul Qahar Balkhi said that Bennett provided information to Foreign Minister Muttaqi regarding his visit, working plan, and mission.

Muttaqi asked the UN official to prepare his report on existing realities in Afghanistan not on the bases of media reports, biased elements and individuals living outside Afghanistan.

On his part, Bennett pledged his human rights situation report would be based on facts and realities.
