KABUL (Pajhwok): Kabul police on Wednesday rejected the killing of a young man for using TikTok, saying the man had been arrested on charges of robberies and later handed over to his family.
In a video clip that went viral on social media, the man’s father said: “My son Hilal has been missing for the past five days. “While searching for him I was told that he has been gunned down after being arrested in Bagrami district.”
He added: “Then I searched hospitals for him but did not find my son. They have killed my son for making TikTok videos. I don’t know where he is. I should know this.”
But Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran told Pajhwok Afghan News a few days ago, security forces arrested Hilaluddin along with three others in connection with robberies. Investigations confirmed his involvement in robberies.
He added Hilaluddin was handed over to his family safe and sound on Wednesday evening.
Zadran said the claim that Hilaluddin had been killed over using TikTok was baseless and untrue.
Pajhwok tried to contact Hilaluddin’s family for comments, but did not succeed.
