FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): The Agha Khan foundation has established an oxygen production plant in Faizabad City, the capital of northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said on Monday.
Local Agha Khan Foundation Head Dr. Shams Ali Shams told Pajhwok Afghan News the plant was built with $105,000 financial support of European Union and has the capacity to produce 16,100 litres of oxygen in one hour.
He said the normal demand for oxygen in Badakhshan health sector stood at 15,000 litres while this plant capacity was over 16,000 litres per hour.
Badakhshan Civil Hospital Director Dr. HumayonFarotan said oxygen played key role in reducing fatalities from Covid-19 during critical times.
Oxygen producing system established in 2019 could not meet the raising demand then, he added.
