KABUL (Pajhwok): Russia’s humanitarian assistance for recent earthquake victims reached Kabul on Wednesday, an official said.
Minister of State for Natural Disaster Management Ghulam Ghaos Nasiri said 16 tonnes of Russia’s humanitarian aid arrived in Kabul.
He said it was the first shipment of Russian aid for earthquake victims, with another plane carrying relief items due to land in the capital next week.
Russia’s Deputy Ambassador in Kabul Anton Lavrov said the Defence Ministry in Moscow had sent the humanitarian assistance for earthquake survivors.
“We hope that cooperation between Russia and Afghanistan in attracting humanitarian aid will continue,” he said.
Earlier, the US, the UK, Australia, Qatar, China, India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkmenistan and Japan also provided humanitarian aid to the earthquake victims in Afghanistan.
