KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has decided to strictly prevent illegal and cipher-based prescriptions by doctors.
According to Pajhwok Afghan News reports, some physicians in Kabul and several provinces write prescriptions based on ciphers to make profits and force patients to buy medicines from certain pharmacies.
Reports say some people complain the medicines are sold at very high prices by some pharmacies. They are allegedly forced to purchase costly medicines because doctors write prescriptions in codes that other pharmacies do not understand.
MoPH tweeted it had decided that such practices would be strictly prevented. An order banning cipher-based prescriptions would be issued soon, the ministry promised.
