KABUL (Pajhwok): Hundreds of university students participated in a book reading contest on Seerat-un-Nabi (life of the prophet PBUH) launched by the Ministry of Higher Education at the Kabul University’s auditorium, an official said.
Sheikh Shakirullah Wahdat, head of the vice and virtue department of the Higher Education Ministry, told reporters at the opening ceremony that 1500 students from private universities had registered for the contest while more than 1000 students attended the competition.
The contest was launched by the Department of Vice and Virtue of Higher Education Ministry in coordination with private universities and students of 30 universities attended the contest.
The result of the contest will be announced in ten days and winners of the first category will be awarded appreciation certificates and education scholarships, the second category winners will be awarded financial gifts while all will get other gifts as well, Wahdat said.
The Ministry of Higher Education plans similar contests in future as well and the second contest will be among female students and the contest will be held in a safe and secure place, he said.
