KABUL (Pajhwok): Pakistan has promised according special preference to the import of products from businesses run by Afghan women.
Pakistan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar held out the assurance during her day-long visit to Kabul on Tuesday.
At a luncheon meeting hosted in her honour by Afghanistan’s Women Chamber of Commerce, she acknowledged role women were playing in the Afghan society.
APP quoted her as expressing Islamabad’s keen interest in strengthening linkages between women entrepreneurs of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Earlier, the Afghan Women’s Network urged the minister not to forget their plight. “You serve as an example of the status of women in our neighbouring country.”
In an open letter to the visiting dignitary, the group said: “We call on you to use your visit … to support the women of Afghanistan and strengthen our solidarity.”
