KABUL (Pajhwok): Japanese ambassador in Kabul Takashi Okada has said his country is in talks with the international community to pave the way for Afghanistan’s economic development.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on twitter page wrote the Ambassador of Japan met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul on Saturday.
Muttaqi welcomed the Japanese envoy and thanked Japan for $106 million aid and positive diplomatic interaction with Afghanistan.
According to Balkhi, Muttaqi called Japan’s interaction with Afghanistan as a good sign for the international community.
Japanese Ambassador Takashi Okada said they were discussing with the international community how to pave the way for economic development in Afghanistan.
He said his country intended to increase its assistance with Afghanistan in alternative livelihood of poppy, treatment of drug addicts and other areas.
He added Japan would serve as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council next year and the country would try to play positive role regarding Afghanistan in the council through an active mission.
Muttaqi appreciated Japan’s efforts and demanded sending a positive message to the world about the actions of the Islamic Emirate in preventing poppies, reducing administrative corruption, ensuring better security and other matters.
