Amount charged under dowry against Sharia Law: Ministry

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs (MoHR) has termed charging dowry during marriage against Sharia Law and issued direction to all mosques to talk about this issue during Friday sermons.

The sermon text differentiate between the amount charged under dowry and Mehar saying that Mehar was the legitimate right of woman and dowry had no justification in the Sharia Law.

In a statement the ministry directed all Imams of Mosques to talk about Mehar and explain that dowry had no justification in the religion

This comes that some youth have talked about high dowry. They mostly migrate to other countries or stay single for long time.
