KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 3100 Afghan refugees returned from Iran to the country during the past two days, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) said on Thursday.
A MoRR statement said these individuals were repatriated via Islam Qala port in western Herat province and through Pul-i-Abresham port in northwestern Nimroz province to the country.
Without elaborating, the statement said some of the refugees returned voluntarily, but others were forcibly expelled by Iranian government.
Following a survey, 37 families and 71 single persons were introduced to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for assistance.
Earlier 1,950 Afghan refugees were repatriated from Iran to Afghanistan in recent past.
