2 killed, 25 injured due to overnight quake in Laghman

MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): Two people were killed and 25 others wounded after a strong earthquake shook eastern Laghman province last night, an official said on Wednesday.

In Laghman, 140 houses have collapsed and information is being collected about the exact damage, said Qari Khair Mohammad Ghazi, director of natural disaster management.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Two people were killed and 25 more were wounded in Tuesday’s night quake.”

Dr. Painda Mohammad Sahak, director of Laghman hospital, confirmed receiving the body of a women and three injured people.

Meanwhile, spokesman of the Ministry of Public Health, tweeted that a powerful earthquake jolted Afghanistan’s 34 provinces, leaving two dead and 20 injured.

In Pakistan, nine people were killed and 70 others injured in different parts of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
