JALALABAD (Pajhwok): About 117 Afghan families, who lacked legal stay documents, returned from Pakistan via Torkham crossing point last week, officials in eastern Nangarhar province said on Saturday.

According to officials, the returning families comprised nearly 650 individuals.

Sidiqullah Quraishi, an official of the Information and Culture department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 117 families returned to the country from Pakistan last week.

He said these families had no legal stay documents in Pakistan where they endured many hardships and eventually returned. The returnees included 322 men, 325 women and children.

Few days ago, 58 individuals, who lacked legal documents, returned to the country from Pakistan through Torkham crossing.

Noorullah, one of the returnees, said: “I was jobless here, so I went to Pakistan albeit with many hardships through Kandahar and police arrested me there several times and eventually I forced to return.”
