MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): About 3,000 girls and boys participated in the entry test for midwifery and nursing courses in northern Balkh province.

Girls and boys from Balkh, Samangan, Jawzjan, Sar-i-Pul and Faryab participated in the entrance test.

Najibullah Tawana, director of public health, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 3000 individuals participated in the examination, most of them were girls.

According to him, 350 of them would be trained as midwives and nurses.

Tawana said that these people would return to their native areas after completing the two-year program and would be capable of providing health services to people.

Deputy governor of Balkh Noor-ul-Hoda Idris assured about the transparency in the entry test and said that only those young people who have the ability would be enroled in this institute.

On the other hand, the participants of this examination want the authorities to pay more attention to the capacity building of this institute.
