KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan and Iran agreed on Sunday to boost border security cooperation, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.
At talks with an Iranian military delegation in Kabul, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan voiced its willingness to bolster cooperative relations with the neighbour.
Mali Khan, deputy chief of the army, welcomed the visiting team and affirmed IEA’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Iran on border security.
A statement from MoD said the Iranian delegation voiced its satisfaction with commitments from both sides to enhanced relations and promised to further strengthen them.
Both sides, the ministry added, underlined the need for addressing border security concerns and resolving bilateral problems through dialogue.
Officials from the Ministries of Interior and Borders and Tribal Affairs and others participated in the meeting, the statement said.
