AIBAK (Pajhwok): Two pilots were killed after a MD-530 type helicopter hit an electricity line and crashed in the Khulum district of northern Samangan province on Sunday, the Ministry of Defence said.
In a statement, the ministry said the chopper was en route from Mazar-i-Sharif airport to Samangan when it crashed in Saighanchi area after hitting electricity lines, which resulted in the killing of two pilots.
The source said an investigation into the incident was underway.
Earlier, Ferozuddin Muneeb, Samangan director of information and culture, confirmed the incident, but did not provide details.
However, some media outlets reported that the chopper crashed in Sayyad area of the district after hitting electricity lines, which resulted in the killing of two pilots.
