KABUL (Pajhwok): Security forces have prevented 12 historic artifacts from being smuggled out of central Bamyan province.
According to Bakhtar News Agency, the smugglers wanted to export the historic objects to foreign countries, but the illegal practice was foiled by security forces.
The monuments prevented from smuggling included clay dishes, precious stones an engraved metal board and some other objects.
On the other hand, security forces also seized soil and stones of the Buddha statue weighting about 10 kilograms from the foreigners.
Rahmatullah Rahmani, an official of the Information and Culture Department, said these historic artifacts were handed over to them following the direction of the Ministry of Information and Culture.
Rahmani commended the efforts of the security personnel and urged the people to be cooperate with them in protecting the national wealth.
