KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Health officials in northern Kunduz province say the number of people suffering from infectious disease has surged during the past on month.
Congo, diarrhea, corona, pneumonia, measles and cholera are diseases that many people in Kunduz contracted last month.
Qiamuddin Safi, manager of the 50-bed infectious disease hospital in Kunduz, said more than 5,000 people suffering from infectious disease visited the hospital during the past one month and 514 of them were admitted.
He attributed the increase in the number of patients to warm weather and non-observance of health recommendations by the people.
He pointed out: “These patients mostly suffer from diarrhea, pneumonia, measles, cholera and corona and five cases of Congo were also registered during the last one month.”
Safi added they were fully prepared to provide health services to patients.
Meanwhile, doctors suggest ways to prevent infectious diseases by following health recommendations.
Ahmadzia Safi, a doctor at the Kunduz Infectious Diseases Hospital, said observing hygiene could be effective in preventing infectious diseases.
He added: “There are different types of infectious diseases and among them there are also viral diseases that cause these diseases to occur due to non-observance of health recommendations.”
