JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two rival families have reconciled and ended their 38 years old enmity as a result of mediation by tribal elders in eastern Nangarhar province.
According to information from the families, six people had been killed from both sides in a land dispute in Achin district.
Qari Ihsanullah Mukhtar, administrative chief for Achin district, said the two sides had long been in enmity. But after mediation from tribal elders, the families buried the hatchet on Wednesday.
He said: “The rival families of Haji Muslim and Shamal in Abdul Khelo village ended their 38-year-old enmity that claimed six lives on both sides…”
He linked the positive development to efforts by tribal elders and officials of Islamic Emirate. Both sides forgave each other.
Ayaz Muslim, speaking on behalf of the families, appreciated attempts by tribal elders, youth and officials at ending hostilities between them.
“Enmity was hard. We had been deprived of education and all joys of life. Day and night, we had been concerned about attacks and asked all people to end our enmity. We hoped tribal elders will create reconciliation opportunities.”
Prior to this, hostilities between several households have been resolved in the previous.
