JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A reconstruction project that will cost 10 million afghanis has been started by the municipality in seventh district of Jalalabad city in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.

Officials say the project was launched yesterday afternoon to reconstruct and beautify the median strip of the road from Chowk area of 7th district to Daronta area.

Governor spokesman Bakhti Jan Murad told Pajhwok Afghan News that in order to beautify the city, the municipality has started reconstruction of the road’s median strip.

He said as part of the project, 6000 concrete blocks would be constructed and the flowerbed and fences along the road would be painted up to Surkhab Bridge.

He said 44 street light poles would be installed on the road in front of Nangarhar University.

Murad added: “We hope the citizens will cooperate with the municipality in protecting and irrigating the plants because without people’s cooperation our efforts will go in waste.”

The Jalalabad municipality has recently started a number of projects in the provincial capital.
