New banknotes distribution begin from Saturday: DAB

KABUL (Pajhwok): The process to collect old 10, 20, 100 and 50 afghani banknotes and distribution of new banknotes would kick off on July 29^th nationwide, according to a statement on Thursday.

The Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) on its Twitter handle wrote: “Based on prior notification, DAB start the collection and distribution process of fifty and one hundred Afghanis denomination banknotes from July 29^th in order to facilitate your transactions.”

People in capital Kabul and provinces could refer to DAB branch and change their old 10, 20, 50, 100 banknotes. Up to 10,000 afs 10 and 20 notes and up to 40,000 afs 50 and 100 old notes could be converted to the new notes free of charge, the statement said.

The source said individuals who wanted to convert a large amount of old banknotes should deposit it in their bank account and could use for the bank transactions.

It said banks should give their clients particularly to salary accounts holders up to 10,000 new banknotes of 10, 20, 50 and 100.
