KABUL (Pajhwok): Top UN and UAE diplomats have conferred on the overall situation in Afghanistan and prospects for cooperation in this regard.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and UN’s Special Coordinator for Afghanistan Feridun Hadi Sinirlioğlu met in Abu Dhabi recently.
According to the Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Abdullah renewed the UAE’s support for the UN Security Council-mandated Independent Assessment of the Situation in Afghanistan.
The UAE’s initiatives for supporting Afghanistan and its people across various sectors also came up for discussion.
The diplomats underlined the importance of greater international cooperation to tackle the challenges facing the Afghan people, especially women.
The foreign minister reiterated the UAE’s firm commitment to backing all international efforts for achieving peace, stability and prosperity for the Afghans.
