KABUL (Pajhwok): Over 30 orphan children have been distributed certificates upon the completion of six months vocational tailoring training in capital Kabul.
The tailoring training was provided by the Yatim Palana Welfare Organisation in capital Kabul.
Sadiq khan Safi, head of the Yatim Palana Organisation, during the certificate distribution ceremony, said 32 orphan children besides tailoring training learned Math, English, Social and Religious issue.
He said in this project over 272,000 afs spent on the purchase of tailoring machines and teachers’ salaries.
He said besides tailoring they planned to provide training opportunities for children in computer, English language and religious studies.
Mawlavi Abdul Wahid Faez, head of the Vocational Training Development Department at the Ministry of Work and Social Affairs, hailed the provision of vocational training and learning opportunities for less fortunate children, and said: “Helping orphan children was good job and one can earn reward for this, if this opportunity was not provided these children would been on the roadside.”
He said government was committed to generate job opportunities for youth and they have had achievements in this regard in the past two years.
He said the Ministry of Work and Social Affairs along with supporting organisations provided training programmes to 35,000 youth in Kabul and provinces who are deprived of education.
Sibghatullah, one of the trainees who got certificate, said this type of training was necessary for their development.
“I want to work as tailor besides my studies,” he said.
