MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have shot dead the police chief for the sixth security district of Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, an official said on Sunday.
Police spokesman Mohammad Asif Waziri told reporters that unknown gunmen killed Raz Mohammad Omar Khalid, chief of the sixth police district of the provincial capital, in Bangali Pul area on Saturday.
He said no one had been arrested in connection with the attack, but a manhunt was underway to arrest the killers.
It comes a week after Sami-ul-Haq Nafaz, former head of the narcotics branch in the police headquarters of Kunduz province, was killed by his guard.
