Balkh cotton processing factory starts functioning

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A cotton factory built at the cost of 90 million afs in the Balkh district of northern Balkh province started functioning on Friday.

Factory Manager Faiz Mohammad Yousufzai, said 90 million afs had been invested on the factory in which around 60 people provided with work opportunity.

He said the factory is stretched on six acres of land and has the capacity to process 80 tonnes of cotton in 24 hours.

During the inauguration ceremony local officials have asked businessmen to take part in the development of the country through investment and generate jobs for youth.

Sultan Mohammad Saeed, the Governor Office Chief of Staff, welcomed the construction of the factory and asked other businessmen to invest in the country and generate jobs for youth.

He assured businessmen and investors of full support.

Naseer Ahmad Khalid, head of the Work and Social Affairs Department, said conflict in Afghanistan had affected traded and industrialization but now was the time to work for industrial development and generate jobs for youth.

Ghulam Sakhi Khairkhwa, a factory worker, said he was happy to get work opportunity here. He also asked businessmen to invest in the country and generate jobs for youth.
