GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): The Afghanmal have won the inter-club tournament in southern Ghazni province.

Abdul Wadood Paktiawal, the provincial  cricket chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News 14 teams from Ghazni participated in the 30-over contest that lasted 30-days.

He said the objective behind the event was to strengthen domestic cricket and select promising players at the provincial level.

The tournament was also intended to boost coordination among cricketers and select a strong team for events at zonal, national and international levels.

He said Afghanmal and Khpalwak Sharafat clubs found their way to the final, in which the latter batted first and scored 230 runs.

Afghanmal chased down the target in the 27th over and clinched the title.

The tournament was conducted in line with the directive of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB). Kifayatullah Ibrahimzoi was named the best batsman; Dawood Shah Mukhlis best bowler and Abdul Khaliq and Imran Saddat best all-rounders.

Kifayatulllah, best batter of the tournament, asked ACB to hold more such tournaments.
