Mazar-i-Sharif-Sholgari district road reconstruction kicks off

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The reconstruction of Mazar-i-Sharif-Sholgara district road has started at the cost of 17 million afs, an official said on Saturday.

Balkh Public Works Department Director Mohammad Akbar Fayaz told Pajhwok Afghan News funds for the reconstruction of vital road is provided by the Public Works Ministry.

In addition to the road reconstruction 100 metres retaining wall and two culverts will also be constructed.

Deputy Governor Noor-ul-Hadi Abu Edress said government gave priority to public issues and the reconstruction of Mazar-i-Sharif-Sholgara road was vital because it connected Dara-i-Suf district and this made this road a important business and trade route.

Project Director Ajmal Safi said if now the reconstruction work of the road not started, coming winter could have further deteriorated the road and its reconstruction cost could have surged.

The project kicks off at a time when few days earlier the reconstruction of Mazar-i-Sharif-Shiberghan road also started at the cost of 12 million afs.
